Game systems with rules, progress and live operations
The systems behind a game — player accounts, progression, in-game economies, maps, multiplayer state and the live operations tools that let a team tune, update and run it after launch.

The problem it solves
When the game outgrows its prototype
A game prototype can be fun with hard-coded rules and local saves. Once real players arrive, the team needs accounts, progress that survives a new phone, an economy that does not break when someone finds an exploit, and a way to change balance or add content without shipping a new build every time.
Game systems separate those rules and data from the client app, so designers can tune balance and content, and operators can run events and fixes, while players keep playing without interruption.
Who uses it
Player
Signs in on any device, keeps progress and purchases, plays with or against others and returns for new content.
Game designer
Adjusts progression curves, rewards, item stats and story content from configuration rather than waiting for a new build.
Live operations team
Schedules events, offers and seasons, watches player behaviour and responds to issues while the game is running.
Educator or trainer
In learning and training builds, assigns scenarios, tracks each learner’s progress and reviews results by group.
The blueprint
Building blocks in this system
- 01
Accounts & roles
Player accounts, cross-device progress, friends lists, parental controls where needed and roles for staff and moderators.
- 02
Payments
In-app purchases, virtual currency, season passes and receipts validated on the server so items cannot be faked.
- 03
Mobile app
The game client on iOS and Android, with saves, push notifications and performance tuned for a range of devices.
- 04
Content & media
Levels, items, dialogue and story branches stored as data, so designers can add and update content between releases.
- 05
Dashboards & reports
Player funnels, retention, session length, economy balance and where players get stuck or leave the game.
- 06
Integrations & API
Game servers, matchmaking, leaderboards and connections to app stores, payments and learning or training platforms.
It can also include
How it works
From first session to returning player
- 01
Player starts
A short guided opening teaches the rules, creates an account in the background and saves progress from the first minute.
- 02
Progress builds
Experience, items and story unlocks are recorded on the server, so progress is safe on any device.
- 03
Play with others
Matchmaking, shared worlds or leaderboards bring players together, with game state kept consistent between them.
- 04
Economy at work
Rewards, crafting and purchases move currency and items through an economy designers can monitor and rebalance.
- 05
Live updates arrive
Events, seasons and new content are switched on from the server, giving players a reason to return.
Connects & grows
Integrations and a roadmap
Typically connects to
- App store purchases
- Card payments for web builds
- Game servers and matchmaking
- Push notification services
- Player analytics
- Learning management systems
- Social login
- Phase 1
Launch
The core game loop, player accounts with cloud saves, server-side progression and a first set of levels or content, with player analytics recorded from the very first session.
- Phase 2
Expand
An in-game economy and purchases, leaderboards or multiplayer, content stored as configurable data, and a live operations console for scheduling events and making balance changes.
- Phase 3
Scale
Seasons and recurring live events, larger multiplayer capacity, additional platforms, and economy monitoring that catches imbalance and exploits before they spread through the player base.

FAQ
Questions about games systems
Something else? Ask us directly.
Either. We can build a complete game with design, art direction, animation and engineering, or join an existing team to build the parts behind the client — accounts, progression, economy, multiplayer services and live operations tools. Discovery establishes which parts you already have and which are worth building.
